Researchers introduce OpenMLE, a full-stack system for recursive self-improvement (RSI) within machine learning engineering. Frontis-MA1 (35B), trained as a meta-evolution agent using Draft, Improve, Debug and Crossover operators, significantly boosts performance on MLE-Bench Lite. The system achieves 71.21% with OpenMLE-Evo-Max, exceeding GPT-5.5 + Codex and approaching GPT-5.6 Sol and Kimi K3, with confirmed transferability on NatureBench Lite.
